WILLIAMSPORT — Frances L. (Manus) Higgins, 75, Lafayette, former resident of Williamsport, died at 7:16 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2003 in St. Anthony Health Care, Lafayette. She had been a resident there the past two years. She was born March 26, 1928 in Williamsport, the daughter of Moss L. and Julia M. Stokes Manus. She married Regional Higgins in Texas. He preceded in death. She had previously lived in Texas, Crawfordsville and Lafayette before moving to Williamsport. She attended the Williamsport school system. She worked as a waitress. She was a member of the St. Paul Community Church in Linden and a past member of the Williamsport Christian Church. She loved collecting angels, playing bingo and enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include: three daughters, Sharon L. (Jim) Marquess, Florida, Cheryl M. (Jack) Frepan, South Bend and Rosetta K. (Tony) Flores, Texas; a son, Louis Lee Mitton, Jr., Florida; five sisters, Mary (Ted) Britton, West Lebanon, Clara (Jim) Kavanaugh, Florissant, Mo., Linda Thorpe, Lafayette, Kathy Manus, Utah and Edna (Ron) Yost, Lafayette; four brothers, Ernest (Marva) Manus, Ogden, Utah, Robert (Carol) Manus, Osceola, Richard (Lana) Manus, Sealy, Texas and Samuel Manus, Illinois; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Florence M. Mitton; three sisters; and a great-grandson. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Grady Funeral Home, Williamsport, with the Rev. Dr. R. Clayton Kendall officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul Community Church, Linden. – jlr
